A Shoe Wall Display

You've heard that saying, "Out of sight, out of mind. That was my situation when it came to my shoes. I used to store them in their boxes years ago, but I couldn't see all the shoes I had. Most of the times, I'd fumble through the boxes trying to get to my shoes, leaving a mess behind to pick up later. Nobody has time for that. Not me.

Well, I found that if you have the wall space in your walk-in closet or in a dressing room, hanging shelves on the wall is a great way to organize and display your shoes. Some call this organized shoe system, a shoe wall. I wanted a clean design for my closet, so I chose the floating shelves from IKEA. I used the Lack shelves in the color white, in the size 74 3/4 x 10 x 1/4". These shelves also come in a shorter size, if you have a smaller wall space.

For my shoes, I used 5 shelves, leaving enough room for my boots below. I made sure to space the shelves apart to make space for taller shoes.

For a more aesthetic look, I recommend sorting your shoes into categories. I placed my fancy shoes at the top of the shelf since I don't reach for them as often. I have a shelf for my booties, one for my high heels, one for my flats, and another one for my sneakers. My sandals and flip-flops are stored in a separate bin. I love it!

Since you are displaying your shoes on the wall, organize them by color. You'll appreciate your shoes a bit more, and they're also aesthetically pleasing (yeah... I'm that person).

You can maximize the shelf space by facing the second pair opposite of the first pair, allowing more shoes to fit on one shelf.

Alternate your shoes to fit more pairs on your shelf.

I hope this inspires you to display and organize your shoes. Make your life a bit simpler.
