Mexican Pico de Gallo Salsa

Pico de gallo is a very popular Mexican salsa. It is made of tomatoes, onions, cilantro, jalapeños, and lime juice. It is a type of salsa used in the Mexican cuisine, and it's also called salsa cruda, meaning raw salsa. This is because raw ingredients are used.

I love preparing it for gatherings, because it is quick and everyone loves it! The jalapeños gives the salsa a kick, but for those who are not fond of spicy jalapeños, you can substitute it with sweet green peppers.

This salsa is versatile. It can be used as the base for guacamole, as well as for ceviche, and you can add the salsa to any tacos, quesadillas, nachos, beans .... or on anything you want!

Let's get you started.

Ingredients:

  • 3 medium tomatoes (diced)

  • 1 small onion (chopped)

  • 1 jalapeño (seeded and minced), or green pepper (mild)

  • half a of the cilantro bushel, approx 1/2 cup (finely chopped)

  • 1 lime

  • salt to taste

  • pinch of pepper

Directions:

1. Dice the tomatoes, chop the onion, seed and mince the jalapeño, and finely chop the cilantro. When handling the jalapeño, it is recommended you use plastic gloves and avoid touching your face.

2. Transfer your veggies, add the lime juice, salt and pepper in a medium bowl, and gently stir.

If you're not going to eat it right away, just cover the bowl and refrigerate. The juices will blend better.

There you go!

Enjoy
